English IV (12th grade English)
Course Description
This course integrates the study of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The writing program emphasizes writing as a process. Vocabulary will be covered through a workbook and also in context with literature assignments. Students will review and continue to develop mechanics, grammar, and usage skills.
Course Objectives
Successful completion of this course should equip the student with sufficient knowledge to comprehend and address the North Dakota Content and Achievement Standards for twelfth grade English.

Grading Policies
• Homework will be assigned and graded on a regular basis.
• Letter grades will correspond to the school’s grading scale.
• Quarter grades are based on total points earned during the quarter.
• Semester grades are determined by averaging the percentages of the quarter grades.
Late Work
• If an assignment is handed in late, the student will receive 50% of the points earned on
that assignment
• If a student is absent, he/she has two days (per absence) to complete any missing work.
• If a student misses a test or quiz, he/she must schedule a time with me to take that test or
quiz.
• Students who are gone for school activities (sports, FFA, speech, etc.), must find out their
assignments ahead of time. They do not get two extra days to hand in their work.
